On October 3rd, the Next Street team attended the 2017 Inner City 100 Conference and Awards, hosted by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City. The IC100 Awards celebrate the successes of the fastest growing companies in America’s Inner Cities. The full list of this year’s awardees can be found on Fortune.com.

This year’s conference was particularly memorable for Next Street, as our Co-Founder Tim Ferguson was recognized for his incredible 12+ years of board service to ICIC, and for his broader leadership commitment to the revitalization of America’s inner cities through Next Street, ICIC, and many other activities and organizations.

Former Massachusetts State Treasurer and current ICIC CEO Steve Grossman presented the award to Tim with the following message:

“I once asked my friend Norman Leventhal to tell me the qualities that make someone a great leader, a memorable leader. Norman said there are four attributes you need to bring together for me to consider them a great leader: Time, Talent, Resources, and Heart. And of the four, the last is the most important. Tim Ferguson measures up to that definition of leadership…. He is a pioneer in field of impact investing and a visionary in the revitalization of America’s inner cities. I don’t know many people who have been more a part of the action and passion of their time, than Tim Ferguson.”
