Shin Otake is a New York City native and an Account Manager at the NYC Business Solutions Queens Center, a partnership between Next Street and New York City’s Department of Small Business Services. In his current role, he specializes in business development and partnerships, quality job recruitment and training, and navigating government. Shin is passionate about supporting local small businesses and entrepreneurs as a way of building local power and cultivating inclusive economic development.

Prior to this role, Shin spent seven years working in philanthropy and support for artists and creative entrepreneurs. Most recently, he worked at the Surdna Foundation, a private national grantmaking foundation dedicated to supporting sustainable communities guided by principles of social justice and equity. Shin continues to work as a freelance producer for multiple arts and culture organizations and individual artists. He graduated from Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in American Studies, with a focus on Indigenous Politics and Culture. Shin enjoys cooking, food-related travel, watching the NY Knicks, and walking around the many diverse neighborhoods of NYC.
