We support organizations with annual revenues between $1 million and $100 million, though most have revenues in the range of $5 million to $50 million. Our current portfolio constitutes an extremely diverse group of industries, from technology, manufacturing, and engineering to retail, services, and nonprofit.

For all clients, we offer guidance on everything from strategic planning and acquisitions to organizational development and marketing. For clients that require capital, Next Street provides customized finance - in particular, growth capital - either directly or by arranging for the most favorable financing from third-party sources of capital.

 

Position Summary:

Next Street Financial is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer interested in a flexible, part-time position with the possibility of moving to full-time. Currently this position is ideal for a person seeking a part-time, flexible work schedule who is also passionate about the market we serve and excited to step into a challenging role.

The CFO will manage the capital structure, finances and operations of the company. It is important that he/she have deep domain experience in three specific areas: corporate finance, business execution and operations. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership and visionary experience with experience in capital structure of a business. He/She will report directly to the Managing Partners and work closely with the firm's leadership, investors and clients.

Necessary Experience:

  • A strong financial services and/or investment banking background
  • Proven financial management experience, including:
    • Balance sheet management experience at an organization with substantial equity
    • The knowledge to leverage an organization's equity and finance a loan portfolio
    • A strong grasp of different financing structures and option
  • Fundraising with an understanding of different fund structures
  • Risk management experience, including:
    • A deep understanding of various operations functions and their impact on risk management
    • Substantial compliance and regulatory understanding
    • A thorough understanding of financial systems and processes
  • Large organization and entrepreneurial experience with a demonstrated track record of success in both types of organizations
  • Providing advice and guidance to clients on managing finances

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experienced candidates with a financial services background and/or management experience
  • Extremely motivated individual with a strong desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Must have a passion for working in our target market
  • Works well in fast-paced environment and is able to handle challenging situations and problems
  • Proficiency with other Microsoft Office Programs (PowerPoint, Word, Access)
  • A creative mindset that seeks to redefine the rules of the game
  • Highly energetic, solution driven and flexible in his/her interpersonal style
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work with both senior and junior members of a team
  • Capability to adhere to stringent timetables and capacity to manage multiple workstreams
  • Strong undergraduate academic background
  • MBA is highly desired, however, the team is also attracted to individuals with a CFA, CPA or JD; in addition, Series 27 or Series 6 is helpful, but not essential
  • Currently hiring in the Boston office
