The Brooklyn Navy Yard, a 300-acre industrial park on the Brooklyn waterfront, is home to more than 300 industrial businesses employing nearly 7,000 people.

Through investments in new green buildings and infrastructure, the Yard has become a national platform for urban manufacturing and a model for sustainable urban industrial parks. It is a hub of modern manufacturers that are tech-driven and socially responsible with viable long-term futures in the city.

How We Helped

The Next Street team provided support for BNY’s operations and employment center, helping design and implement the new operational model, prioritizing key investments across the Yard to better support growth. This included detailed financial analysis and modeling, and development of a multi-year operational plan.

Our Impact

  • We developed a yard-wide capital plan for managing the growth of the organization, projected to double tenants over a five-year period.
  • We identified financial and organizational requirements for quick-wins and longer term strategic initiatives across eight key work streams
  • We constructed an Employment Center plan for data collection and longer-term strategic initiatives to help BNY deliver on its mission
