Brian Kane Managing Associate

Brian’s primary focus is on financial and strategic due diligence analysis, underwriting, and client engagement for Next Street. He also actively supports the firm’s portfolio companies.

Brian has over seven years of strategic and financial advisory experience resulting from his previous work as a strategy consultant and investment banker. Prior to joining Next Street in January 2009, Brian worked at G.A. Kraut Company, a consulting firm focused on growth initiatives and capital markets strategies for Fortune 500 clients in a range of industries including aerospace and defense, agriculture, financial services and technology. Brian’s former work experience also includes three and a half years as an investment banker at UBS Investment Bank in the Financial Institutions Group, where he advised on mergers and acquisitions in both the United States and Europe, as well as at SPP Capital Partners, an investment bank specializing in the private placement of senior debt, mezzanine debt and equity capital.

Brian graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in Economics. He has also committed significant time and energy in various roles as a board member, consultant, and team leader to three educational non-profits, including Knight’s Trust, Inc., Minds Matter, Inc. and African Leadership Foundation. During a recent sabbatical, Brian helped launch the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Brian also enjoys sports, including triathlons, skiing, and basketball, as well as traveling, reading, and hiking.
