In September, Next Street hosted the Small Business Insights for Success conference — three days of presentations, workshops, and networking designed to help New York City-area entrepreneurs hone the skills they need to grow their businesses.
Held at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a modern industrial park that caters to tech-focused and socially responsible businesses, the program drew executives from a range of local businesses, including Daily Press Coffee cafe and Carlin Solutions, a boutique management consulting firm. The conference was sponsored by Amalgamated Bank.
“We want to make sure we’re part of what’s happening in Brooklyn,” said Samantha Berg, EVP of Community Banking at Amalgamated Bank. “We feel that Brooklyn is growing, it’s changing, and part of that change is coming from the small businesses within the community.”
The business leaders in attendance praised the program for helping them identify opportunities to boost their efficiency and grow their bottom line.
“The tools, the insight, the areas we focused on, and in terms of what I learned about myself and about my business were absolutely areas that needed work,” said Caroline Onikute, co-founder of Align Pictures. “More importantly, I would never have been able to point those out by myself.”
