Donald Jones is a Director in Next Street’s New York office where he leads several of the firm’s economic development programs that aim to advance opportunities for underserved communities and enterprises. Specifically, Donald manages a team of 12 professionals that operate two brick and mortar business development centers in New York City. Donald is responsible for overseeing all aspects of each Center’s internal and business development strategies and overall operations. Additionally, Donald has led the development and delivery of several of Next Street’s capacity building programs, which help target groups of small enterprises expand their knowledge and build winning strategies to successfully launch, sustain, and grow their businesses.
Prior to joining Next Street, Donald was the Executive Director at the New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS), where he led the city’s small business development program. Prior to working at the SBS, Donald worked for the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL), where he advised Fortune 500 companies on how to create career development programs for their employees. Donald holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbia University with a concentration in Advanced Policy and Economic Analysis and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Duke University.
